MacBride Pitch and Putt Club

Mac Bride Pitch & Putt Club overlooks the Boyne Viaduct on the south side of Drogheda.Our Club is located at the rear of Weir Hope housing estate on the Marsh Road.We are dedicated to promoting both competitive and recreational Pitch & Putt within County Louth.Green fees are accepted with committee approval and are €6/adult €3/under 18 per day and must be paid before play.

Our membership packages cater for age ranges from under 16 at €25 to OAP rates of €85 with numerous other options for every age of lady & gents and family rates in between. For information on these rates contact club secretary Pádraic Sarsfield on 087-4181074.


Our club was founded in 1986 by Anthony Collier, Martin Rice and Jimmy O'Neil who were all staff members of Drogheda train station.The club was originally called CIE and for many years it was just a nine hole course.As the game grew in popularity a further nine holes were added and in 1992 we held our first open with our new 18 hole course.The course now offered a large selection of shots which took advantage of our hillside field.Our next land mark was the conversion of an old railway passenger carraige.This carriage became our clubhouse and we still use it today.

We then planed a new entrance which would replace the winding pathway used to climb the hill. This entrance was introduced in 2000. In 2002 we faced our biggest test, with the expansion of the train station.We lost a section of the course to the development works and we had to re-design our course layout.On the positive side we put in place a new clubhouse and better access to our course.

In 2004 we introduced a Scratch Cup to our calendar,it was to our misfortune that it would become a memorial Scratch Cup with the passing of one of our founding members John McKenna & is one of the most faught after titles in our calender each year.

Throughout the years we have had several Provincial and National champions.
