Convention Dinner, February 28, 2010, 1:56 pm
| With the business of Convention over the social side took centre stage as over 90 people sat for the dinner dance.
The final official duty of Frank Smith as PPUI President was a pleasant one as after dinner he inducted former PPUI President and current PPUI Patron Billy Lynch into the Hall of Fame. Tremendous applause greeted this most popular and genial recipient of the prestigious award. In his acceptance speech Billy thanked the NEC for honouring him in this way and paid a special tribute to retiring President Frank Smith.
The evening that followed was reminiscent of times past as the stresses and strain of the day were forgotten and people got down to what I find is sadly missing at so many events an old fashioned Social. Good food, good company, entertaining music for those who danced, attentive bar staff for those who wanted a drink of any type all combined to make the night a most enjoyable one.
All in all it was a very successful day with all the business processed and yet people still able to enjoy themselves. It would be marvellous if this could be a template for the year and Pitch & Putt returned to its more sociable roots where competition and fun evenings happily co existed, I for one would welcome such a development
